Friends of Hinxton Church

Hinxton Parish Council Friends of Hinxton Church

This organisation was set up in the late 1980’s by the then resident of Church Green Cottage specifically to care for the church and churchyard for the enjoyment of the public.  It has raised many thousands of pounds in support of a whole range of projects including re-roofing, redecorating and the heating of the building.  As a result it is a very “habitable” building which was not always the case.

Funds are raised through social activities in the village and by appeals to grant making organisations.

It is worth remarking that this treasure of mediaeval architecture gets no financial support from either the state or from the Church of England.  Quite remarkable when one considers that well over 60% of the built heritage of this country lies in church buildings.

The Chair of The Friends is Jane Chater..  The Secretary is Mrs Kate Riley.
